Young people looking for a way to creatively their future aspirations express and issues that matter to them might want to think about taking part in the Northland Youth Summit Arts Festival.
There are 80 places available over several workshops at the fourth annual youth summit of its kind, from Wednesday September 5 to Friday September 7, at NorthTec in Whangārei.
That is 20 more places than last year at the free event for Northlanders aged 12 to 24.
Expressions of interest in taking part are now open for the summit with the theme Our Vision, Our Future.
''It is a massive opportunity for youth from across Tai Tokerau to participate in something quite eclectic and inspiring,'' said Creative Northland's general manager, Hinurewa te Hau.
She said the increased options this year reflect the aspiration for youth to learn skills they can adapt into the future or as a career pathway.
The 2017 event saw 60 youth take part in five creative workshops over two days, the resulting creative work echoing the festival's theme, Our Voices, Our Stories.
Regional arts organisation Creative Northland and other organisers have expanded it to a three-day festival this year, with more creative workshops.
The three-day workshops in which the young participants will be mentored are music, theatre, dance, film and photography, visual arts (printmaking), sculpture and 3D digital mapping and design.
Everyone will stay at the NorthTec or other local marae, with catering and travel costs covered by a funding grant.
Applications are now open online at creativenorthland.com until August 5.
