Dear Reader,

Kya chal raha hai? Well, this week has been about Aryan Khan again. And then about Shah Rukh Khan visiting him in Arthur Road jail. 18 minutes on the 18th day. An emotional SRK asked Aryan Khan if he is eating well, and enquired if he could send ghar ka khana for him. And as he stepped out, SRK patiently greeted his fans - gathered to catch a glimpse of him - with folded hands.

In all this, Ananya Panday also came under the Narcotics Control Bureau's scanner and was called in for questioning twice already - on Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22. She will have to come in again on Monday. On the other end, the Enforcement Directorate is grilling Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi. If all this reminds you of last year and the Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case, you are not alone.

Far away from all this, we have another crorepati this week on Kaun Banega Crorepati 13. Apart from the big cash prize, he's also won himself a chole bhature date with his favourite actress Taapsee Pannu. And for that reason, we're giving you a recipe for chole bhature - whip it up or order it in, whatever gets your goat. We know we are tonight.

That naturally means we'll have to work extra hard to shed those calories the next day. No worries, Mira Rajput to the rescue.

What else happened this week? Did we forget something? No, we didn't. We're just saving the best for the last. India achieved the 100-crore vaccine doses milestone this week. And it certainly is no mean feat. The 100-crore club never is.

For everything else, here's our specially curated Weekend Planner. Over to the What's Trending section.

WHAT’S TRENDING?

There were pretty much two things that trended big time on social media this week Aryan Khan and India achieving the major milestone of 100 crore vaccine doses. Shah Rukh Khan was photographed at the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai on Thursday. He was there to visit his son Aryan Khan who was arrested in the Mumbai cruise drugs case. The visuals from Arthur Road jail premises left netizens rather sombre. Fans and followers took to social media to render support to the actor who was visibly upset.

Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 10 am today, October 22, a day after India achieved the major milestone of 100 crore vaccine doses. He lauded the major achievement and said that the feat also reflects upon the optimism surrounding India.

ICC World Cup T20 tournament starts on Sunday (October 24) and the opening match is to be played between India and Pakistan. The opening game is taking place at the Dubai International Stadium. Just ahead of the India vs Pakistan match, Momin Saqib, the man who went crazy viral for his epic rant in the year 2019, after Pakistan lost a match against India came up with yet another video. You definitely don’t want to miss this one.

It’s been several months since Sri Lankan singer Yohani Diloka De Silva uploaded her rendition of Sinhala song Manike Mage Hithe on YouTube. However, the craze around the song has not died down yet. Here’s another video of a woman performing Bihu dance on the song. The video has left the internet pretty amused.

Meanwhile, #BoycottFabindia booked a spot on the trends list this week after a tweet promoting their new collection for Diwali did not go down well with the netizens. The tweet had to be removed by the clothing brand after people accused them of “defacing” the Hindu festival of Diwali and terming it Jashn-e-Riwaaz.

SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE

Compassion and empathy for humankind should be instilled at a very young age. A golden example of this was a video that went viral on social media in which a young girl was trying her best to console her classmate who was crying.

The boy was missing his mother, but the girl calmly made the boy understand that they will be meeting their families soon. The video made social media users smile and appreciate the girl’s kindness.

WHAT’S ON MY PLATE?

Did you watch the October 20 episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13? It was pretty interesting as contestant Sahil Ahirwar told host Amitabh Bachchan that he has a “crush” on Taapsee Pannu and asked the actor whether he is aware of her “favourite dish”. No, Big B wasn’t and neither was Sahil until Taapsee tweeted and informed them that it is Chole Bhature.

HOW TO MAKE CHOLE BHATURE?

To make bhaturas, start by kneading maida, whole wheat flour and salt together along with water. Sprinkle yeast on top. After around 3 hours, divide the dough into equal portions. Roll into round-shaped bhaturas and deep-fry till golden brown.

The chole has to be soaked overnight and pressure-cooked before you begin the process. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon, whole peppercorns and green cardamom. Minutes later, add chopped onions followed by chopped ginger and garlic. Cook for a while. Next, add asafetida, ajwain, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and sugar. Fry well with a bit of water. Add the chole to the masala. Cook for a while and add chopped tomatoes. Allow the chole to cook in the gravy for about an hour.

Next, add butter for extra taste and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and slit green chillies. Serve hot with bhaturas.

DON’T STOP WORKING OUT

Mira Rajput has a very envious lifestyle but when it comes to fitness, she has some great tips. Vacationing in the Maldives, the diva took to Instagram to share a breathtaking snippet of hers doing Surya Namaskar.

“This was a Surya Namaskar series I did just after sunrise, and I felt so energised. We hear about saluting the Sun, but this time I felt the energy. Bare feet, grounded in the sand and the sound of the waves,” she captioned the post. Mira also elaborated about how yoga should essentially be about connecting with the body, through nature.
