Bulgarian pilot Yasen Todorov becomes laureate of National Geographic prize for photo of 2018


A pilot is the latest laureate of the National Geographic prize for photo of 2018. His name is Yasen Todorov who demonstrated his talents on the ground as well being a classical musician and violinist. His hobby is to photograph different natural and social phenomena. One of his photos attracted the attention of the editors of the world-popular magazine National Geographic. The photo sent to National Geographic was taken during a flight. It shows a parking lot with thousands ofVolkswagen и Audi cars amidst Mojave Desert in California. The vehicles are part of the diesel models manufactured between 2009 and 2015 when the diesel emissions scandal erupted. There are a total of 37 parking lots of this type on the territory of the United States with vehicles, which were pulled off the market. The Bulgarian pilot and photographer hopes that these photos will make us think what we leave behind on this beautiful planet and that we will become a bit more responsible. This is not the first big prize for the Bulgarian pilot Yasen Todorov. He is also a laureate of awards at international photo competitions in New York, Tokyo, Moscow, etc.
