Valletta 2018 closes - Thousands attend L-Ahhar Festa celebrationsValletta’s year as the European Capital of Culture officially came to a close on Saturday night, and the occasion was marked with a huge celebration in Valletta – L-Ahhar Festa.

More than 400 events took place across Malta and Gozo during 2018, which saw an attendance of over 400,000 people, with a boost to the cultural, social and economic infrastructure throughout Valletta, with the cultural programme organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation.Valletta 2018 closes - Thousands attend L-Ahhar Festa celebrationsThe Foundation said that it collaborated with over 1,600 local and international artists. Most international artists hailed from European countries such as France, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland and the United Kingdom, among others, as well as artists from other countries from North and Central Africa and the Middle East.Valletta 2018 closes - Thousands attend L-Ahhar Festa celebrationsThe huge crowds that braved the cold to attend the closing events in Valletta on Saturday were able to enjoy a spectacular line-up of live performances by Tribali, the Brass House Unit, Ozzy Lino, DJ NeoX and Moveo Dance Company on the main stage at St George’s Square.
