Capturing nature in all its glory, the winners of the prestigious International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition have been revealed.

Now in its fourth year, the contest celebrates all genres of landscape photography, with photographers from all over the world submitting four images to be judged on consistency and for having a 'spark of landscape brilliance'.

Max Rive, from the Netherlands, was revealed as the winner for 2017 with his breathtaking images capturing the rugged beauty of Patagonia and Greenland.

Revealing how he got into photography, he said: 'I started taking photos in 2008, just to document a mountain trip I did between studies. I took photos to remember the trip, to show others how cool it was and to have something more than only to hike - so I was just like many travel photographers, I would say… I gradually became more serious as a real landscape photographer when I started sharing photos on the internet and became inspired by the work of others.'

Rive says he often 'waits for days at a spot to get the shot' and it appears his patience has paid off, with him scoring a $5,000 cash prize and a colour image printer.

He and 101 of the other entrants have been acknowledged in a new hard copy book. Scroll down to see a selection of some of the shots that made the cut...
