Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2017. /Kabar/. The anniversary meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) began in Minsk, where President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov is also taking part.
After group photography, the heads of the CSTO member states began their meetings in a narrow format.
At the beginning of the meeting, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko wished success to the new president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov. "I wish you successes in your difficult post in difficult times," he said.This is the first participation of Zheenbekov in the CSTO session as the head of state.
The heads of state will discuss the tendencies in the development of the international situation and the measures taken to strengthen the collective security of the CSTO. It is planned to adopt the Declaration of the Heads of the CSTO member states in connection with the 25th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the creation of the CSTO.
The draft resolution on "Plan for the Implementation of the Collective Security Strategy of the CSTO for the period until 2025" is scheduled for consideration by the presidents.
2017-2018 chairmanship of the CSTO passes to Kazakhstan. On CSTO’s agenda there are a number of political statements by the heads of the CSTO member states on topical issues of international security.
CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov in his annual report will inform about CSTO activities for 2016-2017. The realization of decisions taken at the previous session of the CSTO will be reported by him as well.
The issues of further improving the military component of the Organization, as well as the structure of the Secretariat and the Joint Staff of the CSTO, the distribution of quota posts in the Joint Staff, and the adoption of the CSTO budget for 2018 will also be considered.
It is expected that relevant documents relating to cooperation in the sphere of information security and improvement of measures to counter illegal migration will be signed. The decisions of the CSTO emblem and flag of the Organization, as well as the establishment of the heraldic sign of the forces and means of collective security will be made.
In total more than 20 questions will be considered on CSTO session.
