Claudio Bravo 's wife has sensationally blamed Chile 's shock World Cup exit on 'some players turning up to training DRUNK'.

In a shocking Instagram post, Carla Pardo even told the squad: "If the shoe fits, wear it, and stop crying."

The Copa America holders blew their chances of qualifying in a surprising 3-0 defeat at home to Paraguay in August - followed by a 1-0 defate to Bolivia.

Last week's 2-1 win over Ecuador gave them hope but losing 3-0 to Brazil last night means they will not be on a plane to Russia - and shamefully, given other results, they dropped to sixth in their table and out of contention.

However the Man City goalkeeper's wife believes this morning that mistakes weren't just made on the pitch.

While praising her husband's commitment to the national team she took a huge swipe at some of their players on Instagram.

Posting a photograph of Chile celebrating winning the Copa America she said: "Thanks for all the beautiful times my national team.

"Thanks my Captain America [Bravo] for all the moments we have experienced. It was truly beautiful.

"But when one wears the [national team] jersey it has to be with professionalism.

"I know that the majority bust their ass, while others were partying and even missing training because of the drunkenness they had.

"If the shoe fits, wear it, and stop crying. Because now the whole country is crying. Waiting for you my captain with open arms."

When asked about the comments, Bravo - who has made 119 appearances for Chile - said: "Things have to be talked about from within, it's not the time to wash dirty laundry in public, and that's all I will say.

"Those who are here know the responsibility. We are all adults and each of us are responsible for their own things."

It is not known what he has said to his wife - but nine hours after the post it remained on her Instagram page.

MirrorOnline reported this morning how Chile boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has already announced he will quit just hours after their World Cup qualifying heartache.

Pizzi's current deal expires at the end of qualifying and with the team not progressing to Russia, he has suggested a new contract will not be on the cards.

The 49-year-old took charge of Chile in January 2016 and led them to victory in the Copa America Centenario.

But the World Cup qualifying campaign has been one to forget, with Chile managing just two wins from their last six.

His exit is likely to coincide with the retirement of several big names from Chile's golden generation.

Bravo is expected to call it a day while the futures of Gary Medel and Arturo Vidal are also in doubt.
